We team up with our friends at Spektrum to put a slightly different spin on the Headway Acid House parties of a few years ago, part inspired by the amazing Diynamic Neon Night @ Sankeys, Ibiza this year!

IVAN SMAGGHE BIO:
Ivan Smagghe belongs to a top table of DJs that journalists like to lazily describe as “The DJ’s DJs”. Along with the likes of occasional partner-in-crime Andrew Weatherall, Ivan has the ability to play music like a raw conduit between his famously obscure records and the dancefloor’s strobe-soaked bodies, injecting something of himself seamlessly into the mix along the way.
His genre defying/defining production work originally in Black Strobe and now in It’s A Fine Line (who have recently finished Battant’s second LP, As I Ride with No Horse) has connected him to and garnered the praise of (amongst others) James Murphy, Trevor Jackson, Ata, Optimo and the aforementioned Weatherall. All fellow crusaders in the fight to prove that electronic music can be so much more than a one dimensional soundtrack for a night on the lash.
The success of his musical blog ‘a few things from Ivan Smagghe’ has generated a compilation series of edits for Paris uber-fashion store Colette. The first volume sold out in a couple of weeks. His project with Tim Paris, It’s A Fine Line, has already put out numerous remixes (from Superpitcher to the XX) and releases that can’t be pigeonholed (electro rockabilly on Kompakt to italo rickety disco on Marketing Music). Their new studio is now fully set for original music, remixes and production. Expect a lot more from them in 2012.
Aside from his A&R role for now 10 years old label Kill The DJ (who have released the first EP of RMVN, Ivan’s project with Roman Flugel), Ivan has also started solo work (a noted remix for Parisian label Meant) as well as more planned collaborations with musical friends (Ewan Pearson and Tiga being first on the list).
You can catch Ivan subverting the masses on any given weekend, all around the world.
TWISTED KALEIDOSCOPE BIO:
Since its inaugural Christmas Eve outing in 2010, Twisted Kaleidoscope has been the gift that keeps on giving for Perth’s growing number of hedonistic party-goers and dance music aficionados. Relentless commitment to a progressive music policy, high quality guest bookings and slick event production provide the backbone to a new and much needed style of party for the city as residents Garry Traill, Findlay Jamieson, Robert MacDonald, Gregor Scott and Bageera get it going, pick you up and carry it elsewhere with a mixed bag of treats, spanning the sounds like only a team of 4/4 freaks could.
Previous guests have included a slew of national heavyweights including Harvey Mckay, Hans Bouffmyhre, Simon Stokes, Marmalade Man, Christopher Kelly and Wrick Hedley, and with April’s Ice Factory party ending in a special b2b with Findlay and Milton Jackson, the group’s scope is set only to bigger and brighter things.
Continuing on from their residency at the infamous Ice Factory, 2012 sees Twisted Kaleidoscope set their sights even farther afield, and yet again presenting an absolute first for Perth in the form of the group’s premier all day party. Twelve hours, eleven DJs and a Funktion One system cement TK as one of the city’s greatest natural resources.

TIMO MAAS has officially turned his back on his old stories and his old ways. “I was stuck on a high level,” muses the electronic icon and DJ from his farmhouse in Germany. “By that I mean that I had a great income and great gigs but really, I needed to express myself. It’s all about taking the experiences from all the years before and watching and learning from the changing music market and that’s what I’m doing: reinvention.”
Of course, Timo Maas is no stranger to reinvention. In a DJ career that he estimates has now spanned “a good 27 years”, Timo’s musical palette has taken in epic breaks for Perfecto (‘Ubik’), the globe-straddling, still-ubiquitous remix for Azzido Da Bass known to the world as ‘Dooms Night’ and a solo artist album for Warner which saw him work with r n b princess Kelis (on ‘Help Me’) and Placebo frontman Brian Molko. But he’s fairly sanguine about the past and he certainly isn’t a man who dwells on it. Last summer, Timo returned to his most natural home – techno – with the masterstroke called ‘Subtellite’ for Cocoon.
Since releasing ‘Subtellite’, Timo Maas has played at The Warehouse Project in Manchester, Glastonbury, Dance Valley in Holland, Glade Festival, Tomorrowland in Belgium, Creamfields, Amsterdam Dance Event, Circo Loco @ DC-10 Ibiza, Sankeys in Manchester, Bergain/Panorama Bar in Berlin, Global Gathering, Fabric in London, South West Four Weekender in London, Cocoon Club in Frankfurt and more… don’t miss Timo’s first ever Dundee appearance and first time back in Tayside for nearly 11 years!
